How do I check free space on my PC?
In Windows, open File Explorer and select This PC: each drive shows its free space under its name.
Why should I leave space spare?
Updates often need room beyond the game's own size while they install, and saves, shader caches and mods take space elsewhere. A drive filled to the brim can make updates fail.
Does this work for console games?
You can type any size by hand. The game list uses PC storage figures; for Nintendo Switch 2 sizes see our Switch 2 file size table.
