The premise, in the publisher's words
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair strands a class of elite "Ultimate" high-school students on the sunny, seemingly idyllic Jabberwock Island for what is billed as a school field trip. The peace shatters when a menacing robotic bear named Monokuma seizes control and traps everyone in a twisted killing game: the only way off the island is to murder a fellow student and escape blame. Players take the role of Hajime Hinata, who must survive each grisly incident by investigating the crime scenes for clues. In tense class trials, the surviving students debate the evidence to expose the culprit, knowing that a wrong verdict will doom them all.
