Set in the ruined, melancholy kingdom of Drangleic, Dark Souls II follows the Bearer of the Curse, an undead wanderer afflicted by a terrible malady that slowly strips away memory and identity with each death, hollowing the sufferer into a mindless husk. Desperate to escape this fate, the Bearer is drawn across a blighted land toward Drangleic in search of a cure.
