The premise, in the publisher's words
The year is 1987, and as the clock strikes midnight in small-town Gallows Creek, USA, former big city radio DJ Forrest Nash is live on air in what will turn out to be the graveyard shift of a lifetime... In this horror comedy, you must solve puzzles to save callers from being hunted down by a mysterious killer. Where every call is life and death, can you save the inhabitants of Gallows Creek?
How it plays
It is played from a first person perspective. Its themes are action, comedy and horror. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component. There are 27 achievements to unlock.

What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for Intel Core i3-540 or AMD Phenom II X4 965, 4 GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GT 730, 2 GB or AMD Radeon HD 6670, 1 GB. At 4GB of RAM, it will run on essentially any working PC — that is below what a budget laptop ships with today. Install size is roughly 2GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
Killer Frequency launched on 1 June 2023, within three weeks of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo IV, Final Fantasy XVI and System Shock. It reviewed better than 1 of the 4. It arrived 3 years into the PlayStation 5's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
Released around the same time: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo IV, Final Fantasy XVI, System Shock.
