The Game takes place in the following events of Megaman X8, after Lumine's defeat. Axl was in a deep coma after the battle with Lumine, X feels powerless for not being able to help his teammate and Zero tells him it's not time to mourn but to continue. A few years pass and strange events begin to emerge in the former Jakob Project building, it seems that a strange pulse of energy envelops Abel City that causes him to collapse. The city becomes chaos and waves of mavericks begin to emerge amidst the calamity, not knowing what to do Signas sends X and Zero immediately to find out what happened.
