The premise, in the publisher's words
"Same encounter, different world." Moon is a young woman who lives an ordinary city life as an office worker. However, because she suffers from depression, she reacts and deals with things in a way that is very different from regular city folk.

It is played from a side view perspective. Its themes are drama and educational. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component.

Room of Depression launched on 4 May 2023, within three weeks of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Dead Island 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Planet of Lana. It arrived 10 years into the Xbox One's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
