One peaceful evening, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad are enjoying a fireworks show near Peach's Castle when they stumble upon a strange, tilted glass pipe. After Mario and Luigi set it upright, a small green fairy-like Sprixie princess emerges in a panic, warning them that the villainous Bowser has kidnapped six of her fellow Sprixie princesses and sealed them away inside jars. Before the heroes can react, Bowser bursts forth, snatches the last Sprixie, and escapes down the pipe. Determined to rescue her and the others, the four friends dive in after him and find themselves in an unfamiliar land known as the Sprixie Kingdom.
