The premise, in the publisher's words
Super Mega Baseball is a baseball video game series developed by the independent studio Metalhead Software in Victoria, BC, Canada. There have been four iterations to date; the first three were self-published, while the fourth was published by EA Sports.
How it plays

How it was received
Super Mega Baseball 2 holds a critic score of 81 out of 100. That places it above 76% of the 5,101 rated indie games in our database, which average 72. Games released in 2018 averaged 69, so it scored 12 points above the year average.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD equivalent, 4 GB RAM and Dedicated DX11 NVIDIA or AMD card. At 4GB of RAM, it will run on essentially any working PC — that is below what a budget laptop ships with today. Install size is roughly 8GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
Super Mega Baseball 2 launched on 1 May 2018, within three weeks of God of War, God of War (2018), Frostpunk and The Forest. All of them reviewed better. It arrived 5 years into the PlayStation 4's life, so it was built for hardware developers already knew well.
Released around the same time: God of War, God of War (2018), Frostpunk, The Forest.
