Once upon a time, in a world far beyond imagining, six great owls brought forth a land called Owlia. Together, they reigned in peace and wisdom for eighty thousand years. However, their pride in the beautiful land and skies of Owlia led them to forget the vast seas below. Mermon, King of the Mermen, often rose to the surface to gaze upon the land of Owlia. His desire for sunlight, open skies, and green forests grew until he decided the seas were no longer enough for him. One by one, he endeavoured to summon the six great owls, sapping their powers of flight and empowering his minions to rise towards the land of Owlia and claim it as his own.
