The premise, in the publisher's words
Set in a Neo-Cyberspace arena your system is being overrun by bugs, errors and viruses and the only solution is to kill every rogue process before it kills you.
How it plays
It is played from a bird view / isometric perspective. Its themes are action, comedy and science fiction. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component. There are 54 achievements to unlock.
How it was received
Waves holds a critic score of 80 out of 100. That places it above 68% of the 2,164 rated arcade games in our database, which average 70. Games released in 2011 averaged 68, so it scored 12 points above the year average.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for 2.0+ GHz or better, 1 GB RAM and Shader Model 3 Compatible video card. At 1GB of RAM, it will run on essentially any working PC — that is below what a budget laptop ships with today. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
What it launched against
Waves launched on 16 November 2011, within three weeks of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Minecraft: Java Edition and Assassin's Creed Revelations. All of them reviewed better.
Released around the same time: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Minecraft: Java Edition, Assassin's Creed Revelations.
