Download Time Calculator

How long a game will take to download at your internet speed.

A 100 GB download takes about 2 h 13 min at 100 Mbps, 4 h 26 min at 50 Mbps and 13 min at 1 Gbps, before slowdowns from Wi-Fi, other devices or the store's servers. Enter a size or pick a game to see your own figure.

2 h 13 min

at full speed, with nothing else using the connection.

Decimal units, as stores and broadband plans use them: 1 GB = 1,000 MB, and 8 bits make a byte. A game's storage line is its installed size; the download itself is often smaller.

Quick answers

Download time questions

How long does it take to download 100 GB?
About 2 h 13 min at 100 Mbps and 44 min at 300 Mbps, if the connection runs at full speed the whole time. Real downloads are usually slower.
What is the difference between Mbps and MB/s?
Broadband speeds are sold in megabits per second (Mbps). Download screens often show megabytes per second (MB/s). One byte is eight bits, so 100 Mbps is about 12.5 MB/s.
Is the size on the store page the download size?
Not exactly. The storage line in a game's PC requirements is the space it needs once installed. The download is often smaller because files are compressed for download, and updates add to both.
Why is my download slower than the calculator says?
Wi-Fi, other people using the connection, the store's servers during a big launch and your disk can all hold it back. A wired connection and a quieter time of day usually help.
How big is GTA 6?
Rockstar has not published a download size yet. Our GTA 6 pre-load page will carry the figure once the store listings show it.
