Add them to your calendar: pre-load opens (midnight in your own time zone) and launch (the US PlayStation Store listing time).
The US Xbox Store listing shows no time. Rockstar has announced pre-load times, not an unlock time, so treat the table above as what the stores show today.

Before pre-load day

Pre-order a digital copy, or redeem your boxed code

Only digital pre-orders and redeemed codes can pre-load. The boxed version holds a download code, not a disc.

Confirmed by Rockstar

Match the code to your account region (PlayStation)

Rockstar says PlayStation codes are region-locked and Xbox codes are not.

Make space, without a number to aim for yet

Rockstar has not published a download size, and the PlayStation and Xbox store listings show none. The figures going around (a 100-250 GB fan poll, an anonymous leaker's "200+ GB", an unsourced 676 GB forum post) are guesses. Sizes usually appear on the store listing around pre-load day.

When can I pre-load GTA 6?
Pre-load begins at local midnight on 12 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, for digital pre-orders and for boxed codes redeemed before launch.
What time does GTA 6 unlock?
Rockstar has not announced an unlock time. The PlayStation Store listings show midnight local time on 19 November (in the US that is midnight Eastern, 9pm Pacific on 18 November). Store listings can change.
Do I have to pre-order to pre-load GTA 6?

The boxed version contains a download code, not a disc. It goes on sale from 12 November 2026 so it can pre-load too. Redeem the code before launch and it pre-loads from 12 November 2026. PlayStation codes are region-locked, so the code has to match your account's region; Rockstar says Xbox codes are not region-locked.
How big is the GTA 6 download?
Rockstar has not published a download size, and the PlayStation and Xbox store listings show none. The figures going around (a 100-250 GB fan poll, an anonymous leaker's "200+ GB", an unsourced 676 GB forum post) are guesses. Sizes usually appear on the store listing around pre-load day.
Can I play GTA 6 as soon as it pre-loads?
No. Pre-load only downloads the game so it is ready. It unlocks on release day, 19 November 2026.

The US PlayStation Store listing shows 12:00 AM Eastern on Thursday 19 November: that is 11:00 PM Central, 10:00 PM Mountain and 9:00 PM Pacific on Wednesday 18 November. Rockstar has not announced an unlock time itself, so treat this as the store listing.
