What Neighborhood Video is
Neighborhood Video is an unreleased adventure game in development at Almost Playable Games, currently scheduled for 31 December 2026. It is available on Linux, Mac and PC (Microsoft Windows). It runs on Unity 6.
The premise, in the publisher's words
Following the mysterious disappearance of the previous cashier at local video rental store, Neighborhood Video, you are contracted as an amateur private investigator to case the place while undercover. In between browsing shelves and mopping floors, follow clues left behind by the missing employee by completing escape room puzzles and perusing the film database. Translate ciphers, combine objects, and hunt for hidden messages to uncover a blockbuster conspiracy. Between employees vanishing without a trace, the impending threat of rival video stores, and hints at cult activity, find more than you bargained for - all for minimum wage.
How it plays
It is played from a first person perspective. Its themes are mystery. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer component.
What you need to run it
The minimum specification calls for Intel i5-2500 3.3GHz, 8 GB RAM and NVidia GTS450 / AMD Radeon 6850HD. An 8GB memory requirement is modest by current standards; most machines sold in the last five years clear it. Install size is roughly 2GB. Both tiers are compared side by side on the requirements page, and you can check your own parts against them without installing anything.
